DaveL (David Lavernia) is a Cuban-American muralist, painter and mural curator with many of his pieces inspired by the vibrant colors of South Florida. 

 

He started his first paintings while working at a surf and skate shop called BC Surf + Sport at the age of 18. DaveL began creating colorful compositions on the black grip tape of skateboards using paint pens. This led to numerous commissions including his first mural in Wynwood in 2007.

From that point on, DaveL dedicated his art career to painting murals and canvases. His career has taken him all over the all over the US and abroad. 

 

He has been a featured artist in magazine publications, participated in brand activations, live painting events, art festivals, art classes, and solo shows among other events.

DaveL works with a variety of media, including acrylic, oil, spray paint, oil pastels, fiber and mixed media. He has created small to large scale multiple story wall murals, canvas, apparel, surf boards, skateboards and the list continues to grow!

When not painting, you can find DaveL with his family and friends, taking photos of plants and animals as an amateur photographer or participating in career day across Miami-Dade County Schools.
